Punta Paloma

But for those who know how to read the wind, Paloma is a jewel. In moderate levante (20-25 knots), the point creates a venturi effect that accelerates the flow and forms a zone of perfect flat right below the rocks, a confidential speed spot that local windsurfers pass on under the radar. In strong levante, on the other hand, the point becomes treacherous: turbulence, backwash on the rocks, a current sweeping around the cape. Better to abstain above 30 knots.

The poniente shows a very different face: the point then finds itself downwind and the area becomes a sheltered mini-lagoon, ideal for SUP, wingfoil and swimming. It is also the best time to explore the sea cave accessible at low tide at the foot of the western cliff, and the grey-green mud baths drawn from the clay outcrops, a local ritual for decades.

At sunset, Punta Paloma becomes the purest viewpoint on the whole Costa de la Luz: you see Tangier across the water, Jebel Musa cut out to the south, and on some spring evenings the schools of bluefin tuna heading back towards the Mediterranean 200 metres off the shore.
