Punta Paloma

But for anyone who can read the wind, Paloma is a gem. In a moderate levante (20-25 knots), the point creates a venturi effect that accelerates the flow and produces a patch of perfect flat right beneath the rocks, a little-known speed spot that local windsurfers pass on quietly. In a strong levante, on the other hand, the point turns treacherous: turbulence, backwash off the rocks, current wrapping around the cape. Better to stay out above 30 knots.

The poniente shows a very different face: the point then lies downwind and the area becomes a sheltered mini-lagoon, ideal for SUP, wingfoil and swimming. It is also the best time to explore the sea cave reachable at low tide at the foot of the western cliff, and the grey-green mud baths dug from the clay outcrops, a local ritual for decades.

At sunset, Punta Paloma becomes the purest lookout on the whole Costa de la Luz: Tangier lies opposite, Djebel Musa stands out to the south, and on some spring evenings the shoals of bluefin tuna heading back to the Mediterranean pass 200 metres from shore.
