Autumn migration: Tarifa bids farewell to migratory birds for the 11th year
The town hall brings back its migratory-birds “farewell” event. Mostly free activities, with prior registration required.
Every autumn, Tarifa’s skies fill with thousands of birds. At the narrowest point of the Strait of Gibraltar, the town is one of Europe’s best places to watch the post-breeding migration: raptors, storks and songbirds use the few kilometres between Spain and Morocco to cross into Africa.
To mark the spectacle, the Tarifa town hall is running the 11th edition of its migratory-birds “farewell” event 2026. The programme offers a series of activities, mostly free, for which prior registration is required.
Watchpoints, guided outings and awareness sessions highlight the birdlife of the Strait Natural Park and the need to protect these migration corridors.
